Biographical Information

James A. Schoenberger, J.D.

Legal Tech's Principal, Jim Schoenberger, had designed and built two mainframe computers before he joined Honeywell Information Systems Inc. at age 19 in 1969. At Honeywell, he specialized in Financial Information Systems and training. Schoenberger joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1977 and for the next four years designed systems including the Integrated Accounting System and the Expense and Budget Reporting System, while attending Chicago-Kent College of Law in the evenings.

In 1981 he entered the private practice of law and pioneered the use of computers in his practice. By 1983 he had formed a separate company, Legal Technology Consultants (Legal Tech), to serve the demands of lawyers and law firms hungry for information and assistance with technology issues.

Legal Tech has designed, developed and installed computer systems and networks for financial institutions, solo practitioners and small law firms as well as developed custom systems for billing and timekeeping and case management.

From 1990 to 1998 Schoenberger prosecuted financial institution fraud cases against Directors & Officers, accountants, attorneys and brokers for the Resolution Trust Corporation and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, recovering in excess of $50 million for the taxpayers. During this time he developed litigation case management and document management systems for in-house, outside and co-counsel use.

Since 1998, he has directed his efforts again to technology consulting, focusing primarily on the legal and financial industries.

In 2003, newly admitted to the Washington State Bar, he re-entered private practice concentrating his practice on criminal defense including white collar and computer crimes.
